KBS FIRE PROTECTIVE RANGE

KBS COATING

A water-based ablative fire protective coating, especially developed for the fire protection of grouped or bundled electrical cables.

KBS CAULKING

KBS Caulking is a viscous, one component fire retardant intumescent caulk.

KBS PIPE SEAL

KBS Pipe Seals are strangler seal for thermoplastic pipes. KBS Pipe Seals offer protection for pipes of all dimensions and installations up to 500 mm diameter.

KBS SEALBAGS

KBS Sealbags will be installed in such penetrations, where frequent cable changes are expected.

KBS COATING

KBS Coating as a coating for electrical cables can prolong the circuit integrity of the cables up to 52 minutes. KBS Coating used in combination with Mineral Wool Panels provides up to 200 minutes’ fire rating. KBS Coating is packaged in 7kg and 35kg drums. KBS Coating is permanent protection under all weather and climatic conditions, tested outdoors for 30 years without any deterioration.

Viscosity: approx. 50,000 mPas

Density: approx. 1.43 g/cm³

pH-value: approx. 8.0

Solids: approx. 70%

Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI) 95

Odour wet: negligible dry: odourless

Thinning i.e. cleaning of equipment: water

Drying time: Depending on temperature and humidity to the touch: within 24 hours (20°C/65% RH) cured: approx. 3 days (20°C/65% RH)

Recommended film thickness: wet: approx. 2.5 mm – resulting in approx. 1.6 mm dry coating. The effectiveness of KBS Coating as a fire retardant coating is in direct relation to the film thickness. Since the economy as well as the current carrying capacity of the cables also depends on the thickness, the above recommendation is believed to provide optimum performance under consideration of all requirements. All tests have therefore been conducted at the indicated thickness ( 0.5mm)

Coverage at recommended thickness: 3.0 kg/m² for level surface. For grouped cables or cables on trays allow 30% more material considering the curved cable surfaces.

Thermal conductivity:  = 0.69 W m-1  K-1 at 25°C

Specific resistance: p = 1.06  109 (Ohm  cm) at 23°C/50% RH

Storage temperature: 5 – 30°C, must be protected from frost !

Shelf-life: In closed original containers at room temperature at least 18 months

Packaging: Plastic drums of 35, 25 and 7 kg
